I have to say i am most impressed with my DLE. It has TONS of power. I have had it now for approx a year and have put 2-3 gallons through it without any issues. I run the stihl oil that everyone suggests and am running 40:1. I have replaced the cheap spark plug with a NGK and have been very happy. My plane had been sitting for about 4 to 5 months and had zero issues starting it once primed. The only issue I have had is the inherient problem with the muffler coming loose. Very common issue. I have used loctite and it still has come loose. But the positives out way the bad! If anyone is worried about a DLE-55 I can say it's a great buy. Great job DLE!

I wonder, have you tried replacing the muffler bolts with a good quality bolt from eugene fastners, or fastnall (sp?)?

It just hit me when you mentioned that, that a lot of the reduced cost comes from them using cheaper grade bolts on the not so important areas.. like muffler adaption. Id be willing to bet if you got some good grade replacments there would be no more trouble. Id bet that the factory bolts (like mine were) are just sloppy enough a thread match to the case that it wont truly seat.

Hmmmm. I think your right. I did end up replacing them but with Home Depot M5 Allen bolts. Probably should take a trip down and get some better quality bolts. Come to think about it I did go down and get the motor mount bolts from there.

Have you thought of some larger wheels on your Yak because of our field being so wet a n soft. and also about the muffler bolts, it might just be the treads in the engine are to loose. Is there room to put in some Helicoils, those threads would be much stronger and not wear when there loose.

I don't think I need bigger wheels... I think I need pontoons!

I am not sure what helicoils are or how much room they would need. For now I think i have the muffler on pretty good so I'm gonna leave it as is and see if my latest attempt at attaching the muffler holds. If I have any other mishaps with it i will look at other solutions but I think I'm good for now. I'll keep a close eye on it!
