March
Hey All,
I made my way outside today, and as I mowed the lawn; I saw my shadow pushing the mower forward. Could it mean something? I believe it means to set your clock ahead an hour on Saturday night, March 12 before going to bed! 😁
I’m looking forward to a good flying season this year! With the TV channels changing from the covid station to the war station, virtually overnight, our world continues to auger in an out-of-control spin, and we need to take advantage of the things that bring an amount of normalcy to our lives. Building and flying model airplanes has been something I have done since I was a boy, and it is a good source of solace in a crazy world!
Our club meeting will be Tuesday evening, March 15, 7:00 pm at Abbys Pizza. Hope to see you all there!

Our club meeting will be Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 1pm, at the ERCA flying field – BBQ lunch at Noon before the meeting. Bring a potluck side dish.
Hope to see you all there!

May
Hey All,
What does an Oregon Optimist say about the Spring weather?
“It’s dry between the raindrops! “
We are looking forward to our May meeting at the flying field Saturday the 21st! We will have something to eat at 11:30-12:00, with our meeting at 1:00.
We are also looking forward to our Memorial Day fly in on the 30th. We will be having an open swap meet during this fly in for those who need to buy, sell, or swap stuff!
I would like to also remind everyone that the Creswell RC Club will be having a fly in/ swap meet on June 5th at Walker Field!
Hope to see you all soon!

June
Hey All,
June seems to be squirting a bit, but I think it’s about to change!
Father’s Day is going to arrive on the 18th, and we can celebrate at the flying field! I hope to see you all on Saturday!

July
Hey All,
Thank you to all who took part in our July 4 Warbird fun fly! Mission Accomplished! We had as good turnout and had a fun time!
We recently acquired a large amount of model kits, that I am trying to sell, that are part of the estate of Henry Barkley. Henry was the Original President of our club back in the early sixties, and recently passed. I am working with his brother to find new homes for these kits, so if you are interested, let me know!
Now, let’s get out there and enjoy the summer!

August
Hi All,
I hope this finds you happy and healthy!
The summer months seem to fly by for me, maybe
because it’s my favorite part of the year?
This weekend we will be having “Monsterfest” at the
flying field, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so be sure to
plan on being there for an exciting time!
We will be having an “open air” informal swap meet
throughout the weekend, as well as some really nice
models from Tim Hanstine’s stock from
NorthwestRC.com, so be sure to check it out!
There will be a food vendor on Saturday.
If you can help, we will be setting up safety fencing on
Thursday evening, at 6p.m.

September
Hi All,
I’m beginning to notice a cool moisture in the air, in the mornings. Is this the feeling of Fall? And What’s up with School buses driving around? This takes me by surprise every year!
Monsterfest, in August was a good event this year, and was well attended! We had people join us this year from as far away as Fairbanks, AK, and Cleveland, Ohio! A good time was had by all!
We had our last “Fun fly” event for the year on Labor Day, and only the brave, and some foolish (pointing at myself) ventured out to fly into a brisk breeze from the North! The weather was nice and made for a relaxing time to visit!
We were blessed with a donation from the ERCA’s first Club President, Henry Barkley, thanks to his brother, Perrie Barkley.
Henry was a long-time model builder, and like many of us, enjoyed having a few “extra kits”, in case he had some extra building time!
Henry passed away earlier this summer and left a large number of kits for his brother to sell. Some of these kits went back to the early 1960’s!
I want to thank Dave Lloyd for his help in storing r/c kits for us, which we were able to sell over the last two months, and after splitting the profits with Perrie, brought in a nice amount for the club! I am happy to report that we have sold all the kits!
About a week ago, we were able to spread sand on the runway, thanks to Carl, who brought his tractor, and others who helped! This will help to smooth out landings!
It is time for the club to introduce some “fresh meat” into the club leadership. This club is designed to have rotating leaders, and it is time for us to “rotate”!
Jeff Lutz has been carrying the bulk of the load for 10 years, and I would like somebody to step up and take his place as Sec/Treasurer.
Jeff has also taken on cooking duties, as well as shopping for club meeting lunches, as well as fun fly meals, and I would like somebody else to step up and take over this role. Please consider taking a spot in the club leadership and let me know.
Thank you, Jeff for making our club events seemingly go effortlessly smooth for all these years!

October
Hey All,
The autumn season hasn’t quite arrived, and I’m trying to get out those planes that need dusting off, and put some air beneath their wings, before the skies turn gray!
I know that we are living in unprecedented times in this world, so we should take advantage of this hobby, and enjoy the freedom of flight.
Our next club meeting will be Saturday, the 15th at the field, at 1:00. We will be having burgers and hot dogs at noon.
I’ll order up some warm weather, and hope it arrives!
If somebody would like to take over as club president, please let me know, and we will be voting at our Nov. meeting. Also, I would like to hear the status of our safety officer, whether he will continue, or a replacement should be hooked, I mean sought. 😁
Roger, over and out!

November
Hey All,
Well, judging from the snow the other day, it looks like we might be having a real winter this year! This means it’s time to knock the dust off a kit, because it’s time to super glue your fingers to some balsa!
We’ve had another good year, and I want to thank all of you for contributing to make our club a success, and a fun place to go enjoy the magic of flying a model!
We will be having our last club meeting for the year on Tuesday the 15th at Abby’s Pizza, on River Rd. The club is buying the pizza and soft drinks, so bring your appetite! We will plan on having pizza at 6:30pm, and having our meeting at 7:00pm, so don’t be late!

December
I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Thank you all for a good year of flying fun!
There will be no meeting in December, or January.
We are happy to have Martin Booth taking over as our club Secretary/Treasurer, and I would like to request all the dues for 2023 be paid as soon as possible, to ease in this transition.
If you would, it would be great if you could send a check to our post office box.
Eugene RC Aeronauts, Inc.
PO Box 26344
Eugene, OR 97402
We have received the memorial bench that we will be putting out at the field, and we will figure out a day to set it into concrete when the appropriate weather allows.
Thanks again to all of you for doing your part in making our club a success!
Roger

2-18 Meeting Minutes
We set the next meeting for the usual 3rd Tuesday, March 15th, 7pm at the River Road Abby’s Pizza. I’ll have the next Aerogram ready a week before that.
Guy’s reported they have been getting out to fly between weather events, bird hunts and dog training.
Gerald Johnston brought his custom build project in progress he calls The Gusto. Sorry I didn’t get a photo of it. It didn’t have it’s clothes on and I’m not that kind of photographer.
No reports of field issues except a question about where the spare propane tank went. Ricky Bobby couldn’t find it to run the shack heater.
Even though we did our load of road gravel per our contract with Mike, we talked about getting more gravel to fill holes in the road. Some of us are not PHDs. I gave my grader away when I moved off the hill. I do have visiting rights though.
We discussed dates for our four events starting with Memorial day May 30th. War bird fly in will be on Monday July 4th. MonsterFest will be Aug 12-14, same as the Scandinavian Festival. Then Labor Day, Sep 5th to wrap it up.
Of course the pizza and fellowship was good as always.
Hope to see you at the next one or at the field.
Happy landings.
Coming Events:
Memorial Day Fun Fly – Monday, May 30th.
War bird fly in will be on Monday July 4th.
MonsterFest will be Aug 12-14, same as theScandinavian Festival.
Then Labor Day, Sep 5th to wrap up the Summer.

Some members may not have heard that Henry Barkley, the clubs first President passed away the latter part of summer. Roger Dahl, Dave Lloyd, and others helped Henry’s brother sell a bunch of aircraft models Henry had collected over his lifetime. Club members benefited by being able to purchase some cool model kits that are otherwise hard to find these days. The club itself benefited from a portion of the sales of these models. We have ordered a memorial park style bench to place at the field for people to enjoy. It will be engraved in memory of Henry.
