September
Hi all!
Summer is beginning to “fall” away, but I’m sure we have another month before the skies open up! Let’s take advantage of the weather while we can!
Our meeting will be in doors this month so we’d like to see all who can make it come out!

August
Hey all,
It looks like we survived monster fest this year and it looks like we all had a good time! I would like to thank all of those who went to great lengths to help out in one way or another, to make this a successful event. I will be looking forward to meeting with you all in our August meeting next Tuesday at the flying field. The weather is beginning to change slightly and the winds of summer are dying down, it seems. Let’s get out there and enjoy this hobby while the sun shines!

July
Greetings,
Summer is in full swing, and I know how busy we can get with different things going on, but I hope that you all are taking the opportunity to enjoy this hobby we share! The days are long and warm, and we are truly into the “dog days of summer”!
Speaking of dogs, I would like to invite you all to come out this Tuesday for our monthly meeting. We will be meeting at the flying field. Come out early if possible for some flying, and of course for the finest flame broiled burger and hot dogs cuisine that Al Barrington is famous for! If you can bring along a side dish, or dessert, it will really be appreciated! Bring your plane and appetite and we’ll have a good time!

June
Greetings to all!
June is halfway gone, and summer is upon us, with all the flying weather we have waited for! I’d like to invite you all to our first “outdoor” club meeting at the flying field on Tuesday. This is always a good time, when we can include some pre and post meeting flying! We will be discussing many exciting issues! I have ordered some warm, calm weather, so now I’m waiting to see if it arrives!
Hope to see you there!
Roger

Hi All,
Well, it’s starting to look more and more like Summer is coming! The mud is thinner, and the rain is warmer! I’m kidding! We have had some lovely flying days, and have enjoyed them!
We will be having our first “event” of the year coming up this Monday, and we’d like to see all those who can make it for our Memorial Day fun fly! Bring out those models that need to feel the wind beneath their wings! Come for the best burgers this side of Costco, if not for anything else!
Our monthly meeting is on Tuesday, at the 4th and Lincoln location. We hope to see you all there as well!

I’d like to welcome you all to our next club meeting! We have had lots going on as the weather is turning favorable for flying. Many have come out to assist in getting the field in shape, and fixing again the mowers! We will be purchasing the first of two new John Deere riding mowers this week, and we have raised over half of the funds for our second mower!
The family of Bob Barrow has graciously donated his hanger of RC aircraft to the club, and during the last week I have worked to sort, and prepare a large number of airplane kits, ARF’s, and many planes that have hardly touched the ground! Some a little harder than others! I have opened this up to our club members to purchase now. Give me a call, and come see them at my house. 541-579-5959.
We have a special guest at this month’s meeting. Gus Phillips would like to come show us a product that can make our hobby safer!
Hope to see you all there at Arbor South.

We have seen a very long and cold winter this year, but we are beginning to come out of it, I’m glad to say! The rainy days are giving way to some dry days, duck hunters are giving way to airplanes, and we have recently sprung forward an hour! The field is beginning to dry out, and the RC planes are anxious to fly again outdoors! I want to welcome all club members, and I hope to see you at the upcoming club meeting on Tuesday, the 25th, if not before.

We look forward to our meeting this week at
Roaring Rapids Pizza, and we’d like to see
what you have been working on!
We’ll see you then!

January
I would like to welcome all of our friends and members to another year of R/C flying. I believe that we will have a great year, enjoying this sport and hobby!
I want to invite all that can make it to our club meeting, as we have a number of issues to discuss. I hope that you members have been taking advantage of the cold weather to “refresh” your birds, or possibly buy, or build some new ones! I would like to encourage you, if you have never built a kit, to possibly start one, or maybe finish one that you might pick up. It’s a very rewarding, and challenging endeavor, that instills a pride for the hobby! With this being said, I would like all who can to bring whatever you have been working on to share with others at our monthly meetings.
Fly Safe,
Roger Dahl

April
Well, its already April and the flying season is only just getting started. Maybe that will be a sign that we will have an extended summer this year?
It is refreshing to see that our member count is up and growing, and we have been seeing a decent turnout at the club meetings so far this year. I know that we have always had a mixture of folks that are active in participating with the club’s needs, and those that like to somewhat remain in the background and just fly. Nothing wrong with that! As a club member you are of course welcome to participate as little or as much as you are able, but I just want to remind all of you that as a paid member, you have just as much right to speak up and voice an opinion about whats going on as the next guy, be it another normal member, or the VP or President does! So if anyone out there has been holding back solely under the impression that you feel you have not been here long enough to speak up about something, I say nonsense! The day you pay your dues, you are a part of this club! So please do not be shy, its your club too!
At our last buget meeting on April 10, Casey Sanguins was appointed as our lead Sponsorship program director. I am uncertain if he realized how quickly a little enthusiasm about a project could get you in trouble! I would like to extend my gratitude to Casey for accepting the position, and taking lead on the program. To start with, he will be approaching Pepe’ Cat in Harrisburg with the sponsorship offering, in hopes to becoming our first active sponsor to the club under the new program. That is not to exclude the current sponsor’s we have already listed. We are hoping that we can create a relationship with them being we are ready to purchase a new John Deere mower, and this is the perfect opportunity to test the waters of the sponsorship program. Being we will be purchasing a second mower as well, I think it will be a good deal for them as well. We will know more about this next week, and discuss it further at the upcoming meeting. Thanks Casey for your efforts, and participation in the club!
The field at the moment is starting to shape up nicely. On Wedneday April 9, Warren, Jim and myself spent the day at the field doing maintenance on the mowers. We tore down the Huskey due to a motor problem, cleaned it out and reassembled it, put new blades on it. We also cleaned out and installed a new drive belt on the Wizard. Afterwards, both mowers seemed to be in good working order and we were able to mow the field. We mowed the main runway and the new South West addition. I was very surprised at how nice everything looked in the end. With the exception of the North West section, it is still very much a wet swampy mess that is in no way ready to mow. I anticipate that it may be dried out enough by late next week to attempt to mow finally.
At this point, I will be working out a schedule to mow twice a week in the evenings, and being that watering is not a concern as of yet, I am okay with handling the maintenance. That said, the combination on the mower shed has been changed to prevent activity that is unplanned so i am not wasting trips to the field only to find the work was done. And to be honest, also to prevent further damage to equipment by unknown members that I will be responsible to answer to. This is only temporary until I have organized another member or more to work with. I am aware that this may strike a nerve with some, but honestly if it does then maybe you are the candidate to be a part of the team! We can discuss this further at the upcoming meeting.
Finally, as most of you know, Robert Barrow, aka Bob, has passed away this month. Bob has been a member of this club since the founding of ERCA and was the oldest member up until his passing. Bob’s passion was with building more so than flying, and most of our current members may never have even met him. I have known Bob since I was just a kid back in the early 1980’s and always enjoyed talking to him and listening to him discuss his latest building project, and newest addition to his collection of airplanes. Bob had collected various airplanes all his life, and many of them never even saw the light of day out of the box. Nearly all of his entire collection had been obtained by our president, Roger Dahl. Roger has decided, and Bob’s family agreed, that the collection should be sold off and the funds received should go to the club. We all agreed that Bob would want it that way. If you would like to have the opportunity to see what there is left to purchase, contact Roger. There is an upcoming swap meet at the Santa Clara River Road Grange again this month, and what is left will be available there for sale. Again, the proceeds will be going to the club and very likely towards the purchase of the second John Deere mower.
I would like to offer a huge thank you to Roger for taking on this huge task! If you had any idea the amount of items he has had to handle, you would know it is very overwhelming! We are also wanting to honor Bob’s name from this huge donation and of course even more so from his LONG standing membership to the club for some ~50 years. It is the least we can to!
Thanks for reading,
See you at the field!

January 2014
I would like to start out the new year by once again giving my thanks to everyone that thought enough of me to elect me as VP of this great club. For those of you that do not know me very well, I joined this club when I was roughly 10 years old, back in the early 1980’s.
I was absent from around 2000 – 2009 for various life reasons, and finally rejoined the family again. A lot has changed while I was gone, and at the same time, a lot has not.
We have most definitely had our fair share of good and bad over the years, including having to move several times. Now that we have this great location, and a land owner that not only share’s our interest in this hobby, but is also just an outstanding guy to boot! (Really, he’s a great guy to kick around!) We had one of the better years as a club last year, and it will be a tough example to follow, to say the least!
I really do not have much in the way of a report from a VP’s prospective right now to be honest, being just a couple weeks into the year.
What I can report on though, is one somewhat of a request from our previous President, and that is a Christmas party of some sort. Melissa Graham will be organizing this event (should the club agree with going through with it), so anyone with ideas for this, please let her know.
Finally, I just want to give a big thank you to all our previous officers for a job well done last year!
Thanks everyone!
JR Graham

I just want to say thanks to all of the club members for electing me as the Secretary for 2014. I hope that I can give some relief to Al Barrington. I will do my best, and can’t wait to see what 2014 will bring. I know I have only been with the club since 2012, but there has been so much I have learned from all of you. Again, I just want to give my thanks to you all.

August
Our membership is currently at 84 after Aaron Bailey rejoined us at the last meeting. Welcome back Aaron.
Our bank balance is at $7550.32
The Monster Fest, 8-10 August, was a fun weekend for almost 40 pilots and countless spectators, sponsors, vendors and support people.
As keeper of the treasury, the question I am most frequently asked regarding the Monster Fest is, “How did we do financially?” Long story short, we ended in the black by $887.01 at last count of the reported expenses. I’ll have a full breakdown of the income and expenses at the meeting.
This month’s meeting will be our last one at the field for this summer. After this, we will be meeting at the downtown location. Come early and get in some flying and fellowship before the meeting. I’ll fire up the grill at about 5:30 pm and serve up the usual burgers and hotdogs. Bring potluck side dishes to share and so the burgers and dogs won’t be lonely on your plate.
Happy landings.

Our bank balance is at $6,237.92.
See you all at the field for the meeting Tuesday, July 22nd, at 7 pm. Come early for the BBQ starting about 5:30. Bring a potluck dish to share and/or ice for the cooler. I’ll be grilling up the usual burgers and hot dogs.
Happy landings.

June
Our membership is now at 82 after welcoming new member Brian Baker.
Our Treasury balance is currently $6211.50
The field toilet service provided by Above All Sanitation has been started for the season. It began on May 1 and will continue through the summer on the first Thursday of each month until we call to stop it for the winter. The service charge has increased $5 to $50.75.
The June meeting on Tuesday 6/24/2014 will be held at the flying field at 7 pm. Arrive early to get in some flying before the meeting. If we can wrap business up quick enough, there may be some time to get in a flight or two before it gets too dark. The July and August meetings are also at the field.
A pre-meeting BBQ will begin about 5:30 pm. The club will provide grilled burgers, hotdogs, drinks and table setting. Bring ice for the drink cooler, a side dish, chips or dessert to share, (usually 30 attend). $$ donations are appreciated to help offset the cost of supplies and maintaining the BBQ. Thank you in advance for your generous contributions.
See you all at the field. Happy landings.

As of this report our membership is: 80. Brian Baker is still pending completion of his member application process.
Since the March meeting ERCA received a total of $6,194.00 in donations for the new field mowers. After paying John Deere for the mowers and the artist for the memorial dedication to Bob Barrow, ERCA has $1,844.00 remaining in the mower fund.
Our current Treasury Balance is: $5,866.81
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Memorial Day fun fly. I plan to be flying the grill about noon providing club sponsored burgers, hotdogs and soft drinks. Side dishes are by potluck so bring a favorite recipe to share.
Happy landings.

We currently have 80 members. I understand there have been some people interested in joining us so I hope to have those applications to share with you at the next meeting.
Our quest for a new field mower is getting close to reality. We have met our goal in donations from the membership to buy the first replacement mower. We’re deciding now who to buy it from where we can get the club the best deal and support. A huge thank you to all who gave to the mower fund. Your generosity will be rewarded with a great looking field. Also, thanks to Jim Corbett for adopting the dying Ford mower by purchasing it from the club as voted on last meeting. Jim generously increased his offer, since there were no others, to $200. We know it’s going to a good home. May it retire in peace.
I will be on a two week computer rescue mission to Palm Springs right after the April meeting so if there is any business for me to handle, please get it to me before the meeting.
Our current Treasury Balance is: $5,802.60
I hope everyone is taking advantage of the few nice flying days we have been blessed with lately. See you out there.
Happy Landings.

Just a couple of things have been noticed by me as we had our busiest day so far, Saturday. The most important is pilots not standing behind the pilot station fences. The other is the door to the trailer has been left open a couple of times in the last few weeks. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

January 2014
I’d like to briefly mention that we are working hard on the website and forum. As you all know, last year we changed our website to a more modern system. Some like it, some hate it. This week I am planning to start a forum thread to open the discussion about what you all want out of our website. What is our website lacking, what about it do you like or dislike, are the colors okay… other?
Jim and I are going to relaunch the website with a few changes. To be blunt, the website we have now is just a headache to operate and add content to. It was designed for blogging more than a true website system. (Its okay if you do not know what blogging is) I have a new system in the works that will make our lives much easier, but it will take some time to get enough of the information transferred before it actually replaces the current one. So we have some time to gather some input from the club as to what you want to see it contain. Even if you think everything seems great, there must be something you might like to see our site have, that it never had before. It will be a few weeks at least before the new system is in place, with or without your input, so you have plenty of time let us know.
We will bring this up at the January meeting, so please share your thoughts with us!
Thanks,
JR Graham
