The clubhouse will be in disarray as we
pull everything out and redo the interior
We will also look for tile to replace
the floor
Tables – we probably will need to start
a replacement program as the table Mickey took home to fix
is completely unrepairable, not a single board could be
salvaged.
Bleachers are up at the field thanks to
Wayne for donating the wood and to Jim and Doug for building
it and placing on site!

Pres Cohen called for and welcomed members, guests and
visitors.
Welcomed was past member Don Desimone who rejoined after
taking a year off on the inactive roster.
Announcements:
Ian Berner announced he had 4 remaining
discount cards to sell for his school fund raiser.
Pres Cohen reminded the membership about
the ongoing canned food drive to support Food for Lane
County.
Sec / Treas Al Barrington Reported
Next meeting will be Wednesday May 29th
at EWEB.
ERCA membership is currently at 80.
Reminded all eligible members to claim
their Gold Leader Club pin if they have not received it.
ERCA now has a Fed Tax ID # and has
applied for Tax Exempt status. Waiting IRS approval.

Old Business:
Pres Cohen reported the status of Senate
Bill 71 is now dead.
Brad Werneth gave an update on the
MonsterFest 2013 event. He reported that contacts with
sponsors is "bearing fruit". Aerobeez will provide a
50cc and 30cc ARF as prizes. He read off a list of
hobby shops and vendors who plan to participate and promote
the event.
Brad Werneth reported that he has
completed the AMA training to be a Contest Director.
He showed his certificate.
Brad Werneth mentioned the Creswell Swap
Meet will be at the Irvington Grange on 11 MAY. ERCA
will have a table there.
Brad Werneth reported that an extra
portable toilet from Above All Sanitation would be $64 a
month. The membership agreed to start with one
standard before the Memorial Day fun fly.
Brad Werneth told about the Pilot
Registration thru RC Flight Deck for the MonsterFest event.
New Business:
Pres Cohen proposed Constitution and
Bylaw amendments. - Proposal to be further discussed. Tabled
for a vote at the June meeting.
Pres Cohen proposed a search to replace
Doug McWha who will be stepping down after this year as
grounds keeper and field maintenance.
Brad Werneth reported that ERCA has been
invited back to display at the Eugene Air Museum event
Saturday, June 8th, Noon to 5pm. Volunteers needed.
Pres Cohen - Work party Saturday, April
27th to do spring cleaning and maintenance of the
field. BBQ by AL following was approved.
Minutes of ERCA meeting April 22, 2013 continued:
New business continued:
Brad Werneth presented a site plan for
the proposal to improve areas of the field used as pits by
larger aircraft pilots. Rather than building concrete
pads, the plan is to prepare and fill the areas with lawn
mix soil and seed to improve the existing rough, hard and
clumpy grass. Started now, would make the areas ready
for the event season.
Motion was made and seconded to approve
$1,000.00 to proceed and purchase soil and seed.
Brad Werneth showed a site plan for the
placement of field tables to improve safety and
organization. The proposed arrangement will be tried
and evaluated during the April 27th work party.
Show and Tell - None this month
50/50 Raffle - $14 pot split with winner Mike Guidero.

Next meeting will be Tuesday June 25th
at the field.

ERCA's application for IRS Tax Exempt
status is pending approval. IRS sent notice that we
should see the determination or further action within 90
days.

Members present discussed issues
regarding taxiing from the pits, call-out procedures and
rule enforcement.
President Cohen explained the safety
rationale for keeping the grass cut near the pilot stations
to prevent pilot injury.
Mel Graham suggested pilots to have a
spotter whenever possible.
President Cohen repeated the need to
post the new rules sign.

Gave an update on the progress of the
MonsterFest 2013 event.
Mentioned a new web site that Mike
Winklepleck is working on; ThrasherRC.com
Mentioned the ERCA Swap and Fly coming
up on 29 JUN, MonsterFest 17-18 AUG and LaborDay fun fly.
Encouraged members to do the Pilot
Registration thru RC Flight Deck for the MonsterFest event.
Old Business:
President Cohen gave a report on the
results of the April 27th field work party and discussed new
flooring carpet for the clubhouse.
Brad Werneth gave an update on progress
of the proposed Big Bird pits area. It has been
decided to go ahead with three 6 x 10 foot concrete pads
with incorporated restraints. He has arranged the
setting of the forms to be donated by a friend, Jeff Hatton,
also a professional in this area. Concrete finishing
is being negotiated with one of Mr Hatton's employees.
There will be a work day to prepare the ground on Friday May
31 at 0830.
John Byrne agreed to do the painting of
the clubhouse when we can arrange a power source to run his
compressor.
President Cohen gave a printed proposal
of planned changes to the ERCA constitution. An online
voting process was discussed.

President Cohen discussed moving ahead
on getting new ERCA hats, T-shirts and other merchandise in
time for upcoming events.
Brad Werneth passed around a
volunteer signup sheet for the ERCA display at the Eugene
Air Museum event Saturday, June 8th, Noon to 5pm.

Show and Tell - Brad Werneth showed his Yak-54
profile by Valley View RC.
50/50 Raffle - Won by AL Barrington who donated the whole $5
jackpot to the ERCA treasury.

Safety - Coordinator Roger Dahl reported:
Addition of chalk lines to the field
marking runway safety boundaries.
Discussed use of fire extinguisher in
view of the increased fire potential.
President Cohen proposed we have a
lighter weight water container than the current 5 gallon.

Brad Werneth brought some of the new
club logo branded hats for sale and reported on more
promotional merchandise that will be available soon.
President Cohen - Presented the proposed
Constitution and By Laws changes - A vote of the members
present was taken and combined with the online forum votes.
- All changes were approved.
New Business:
President Cohen presented a list of
members to be appointed to the Board of Directors. The
members present voted to approve: Frank Blain, Mel
Graham Sr., Brad
Werneth,
Mike Burgess, and himself by default to the board.
Frank Blain suggested we tape off the
areas planted with new grass until it gets established.
Robert Morris Jr. suggested we have an
ADA approved restroom at the field especially during
events. Brad Werneth is planning to have one at the
Monster Fest.
Roger Dahl suggested we approach
Harrisburg High School to acquire their unused equipment for
marking field safety boundary lines. Members agreed.
He will follow up.
President Cohen asked members for more
participation in the new online forum.

Noted receipt of Oregon State
registration number under the Charitable Trust and
corporation Act, along with annual filing requirements and
rules regarding holding fund raising raffles requiring the
tax exempt status and a gambling license.

Safety - Coordinator Roger Dahl reported:
Reminder to members about smoking rule
and fire hazard.
Mentioned boundary lines and the need
for an inexpensive source for the required lime to mark the
lines. He is looking into a cheaper, more effective
alternative method of marking the lines.
President Cohen explained his variance
of the "no pets" at the field rule.
He requested members go easy on "ribbing"
of pilots while they are flying.
Reminded members who are last to leave
the field do a walk-around to make sure equipment is
put away and all is secure before
leaving.
Events: - Brad Werneth
Gave an update on the progress of the
Monster Fest 2013 event. More sponsors are coming on
board offering prizes. A list of expected prizes was
read. The members who signed up to help were verified
of those present.
Mentioned we will put on a static
display at the opening of the new movie "Airplanes" at the
VRC Regal theater, the weekend before the Monster Fest.
Old Business:
Frank Blain told he has arranged to have
an excavator, tractor and tiller available to work the
ground for the new North/South runway.
President Cohen announced the decision
to not have an ADA restroom for events due to expense.
President Cohen announced the end of our
Food for Lane County campaign following the Monster
Fest. He reported 69 pounds in total food donations.

New Business:
New members, David and Conner Wilson,
voted on and approved.
Jim Corbett reported on progress of the
solar power station expansion.
Roger Dahl proposed a Heli-Pad for the
field to prevent grass damage from fuel exhaust.
Members decided to incorporate one into the pending new
runway addition. NOTAM to follow.
President Cohen announced a new meeting
place for 2014. In view of the loss of our current
arrangement with EWEB, Brad Werneth has graciously offered
the use of his office space at 4th & Lincoln in Eugene.
